She made sure she was vaccinated against influenza because she knew pregnant women are more likely to be hospitalized from complications of influenza than non-pregnant women of the same age.3 In addition, recent studies have found influenza vaccination not only protects pregnant women from the disease and its complications, but also provides protection to their unborn child. 17
