Mother of Two Who Lost Her Husband Barry, a Minneapolis Firefighter, to Influenza
- Linda DeLude's husband Barry, a Minneapolis firefighter, was her high school sweetheart, her best friend, the father of her 2 sons, and the man she called her soul mate. He was always healthy, so Linda never thought about making sure he was vaccinated against influenza. But Barry was infected with influenza in March 2007 - tragically, he died from the disease.
“I had to learn the hard way that influenza can affect anyone - not just people who are already sick,” Linda said. “Since Barry's death, I want to do everything I can to let others know how important it is to get vaccinated.”
