Joy BeharComedian, Co-host of ABC's The View, and MotherOn the hit daytime show The View, co-host Joy Behar is “the funny one,” the comedian and co-host who spins a humorous web around the day's topics. When it comes to influenza, however, the jokes stop. On a show that deals with health issues on the same level as political and entertainment topics, Joy knows she has the duty to inform as well as amuse. “Not getting an influenza vaccination means you're putting yourself and your family at riskperiod,” she says. The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends anyone 50 years of age and older be immunized against influenza to prevent developing complications from the virus.1 Joy sees her role on The View as very important because the show reaches so many women with information every day. As for her role as an ambassador for influenza immunization awareness, she also wants her audiences to take influenza seriously. It's no laughing matter. A Baby Boomer herself, Joy asks other boomers to take the lead and get themselves and their families immunized every year. “Make it your duty to get vaccinated and take charge of others in your life to make sure they do the same.” |
